Scooter - Behind the cow

En résumé: The new Scooter track.

Le toute: Already a legendary band, Scooter will release a new album, The Ultimate Aural Orgasm, in February. Before that, we get a sneak peek at things to come with their Behind The Cow single.

In their usual style, Scooter pays homage to KLF, and this time to their What Time Is Love? song, both in terms of lyrics (the America version) and electronic melodies. An even more obvious influence, however, is the classic Don´t Fear The Reaper by Blue Öyster Cult (the song was later turned into a genuine work of art by Apollo 440).

As a whole, this song is a typical Scooter piece; a mishmash of various elements, with some guitar riffs by the former Venom guitarist Mantas and rhymes by the rapper Fatman Scoop thrown into the mix. Apparently, Fatman Scoop was dragged into the studio when he was still not finished with his meal, because such voice does imply that some food was still left in his mouth when he grabbed the mike.

The remixes by Spencer & Hill are fine examples of dance-pop, which manage to make the song even more uplifting. Bigroom Mix utilises H.P. Baxxter’s shouting vocals, whereas Dub Radio Edit makes more use for the mumbled raps by Fatman Scoop. The single is wrapped up with Taj Mahal, which acts as a very much serene B-side track. .
