Bericht: Eight years ago, Sónar festival signaled the end of clubbing’s season in Barcelona. Some festivals that were set to happen on Summer failed misearably. Most clubs, even the biggest ones, were closed in August, and in July they didn’t charge any fee.
Liquid Club opened eight years ago and was a tremendous success. We don’t mean to say all merits for the extremely positive change of the town in that respect have to be ascribed to the club, but it is true that this new night with an open air swimming pool offered something new and took advantage of the favourable climatological and socio-cultural conditions of this Mediterranean capital. This year, Liquid Club is back without substantial changes. It has just greased what was already working well and is now offering a more modern and complete line-up than ever, so that its public will take home the best possible memories from the hot nights they spend in Barcelona this Summer.
And if Sónar waves goodbye to Winter, Liquid gives a warm welcome to Summer with a big party on June 19th. Liquid Stage will have 15 artists, between lives and DJs, spread on three different spaces. Club will open at 10 pm and will offer for eight hours a non-stop show with the best international artists of electronic music: Tiefschwarz, DJ T, Davide Squillace, Italoboyz, Guy Gerber, Paul Ritch, Alfa Romero, Ptoile & Till von Sein, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, 3 Channels, Ludovic Vendi, Doide, Uto Karem, Matteo Spedicati, Matt Tolfrey, Krakatoa, Dandi e Ugo vs Piatto, Fabio Giannelli and Junior López.
The line-ups of the rest of Liquid Club’s nights is quite appealing too. Sunday, June 22nd will be a surprise night, with. On Sunday 29th we’ll have artists from the up-and-coming Barcelona’s label Soundworks: local boys Retronouveau, Guim and Max Headroom and Dominican José Ayala. On July and August are scheduled Gregor Tresher, Alexander Kowalsky, Pablo Bolívar, Damian Lazarus, Pier Bucci, Ińaqui Marín, Dinky, Jaumëtic, Tom Clark, Paul Ritch, Marc Marzenit, Joris Voorn, Henry Saiz and Le Chic, plus others to be confirmed. Liquid Club takes place at Centre Poliesportiu L’Hospitalet Nord, a sports complex with an open air lake-shaped swimming pool, with waterfalls and palm trees. There are two rooms: the main one, devoted to electronica, and rock oriented one, called Suburbia. It has a 11.000 W sound system. There will be a free bus service from Inercia’s stall, at Icaria beach, and with stops at Catalunya y Fransesc Maciŕ squares. It will run from 9.30 pm for the Liquid Stage party (June 19th) and from 0 am the rest of the days, every half hour, both directions, round trip, till closing time..
