Biographie: General Information
In 1988 TOM started his DJ career playing at small clubs and some bigger parties around his hometown Darmstadt / Germany. Since today TOM has played nearly every big rave or famous club in Europe and has visited a lot of other places in the world .A characteristic of TOM is his musical variety in electronic dance music and out of that his DJ-sets have a big spectrum of music from House,Acid, Trance to progressive Clubsound,which completes a full nightprogram,which is everything else then boring and monotone.Next to this work as a popular club- and rave-DJ the 27 year old worked as a musician, producer and remixer since 1991 with the same powerfull atittude. His life´s philosophie is "music,fun & good friends" and this could be proofed when you look at his musical works with different personalities out of the Darmstadt area.
1991
In 1991 TOM WAX & THORSTEN ADLER started their musical experimentsin electronic dance music next to finishing school with the final exam. The first releases were the projects BRAIN-e,PSYCHO DRUMS & MICROBOTS on Overdrive Records.MICROBOTS and PSYCHO DRUMS was licenced by the famous Belgian label R&S Records and got a big success in Germany and a lot of other countries .Tom started Djing at the world famous Techno Club @ Dorian Gray / Frankfurt Airport.
1992
In 1992 TOM & THORSTEN found a new project called"ARPEGGIATORS" on the brandnew label "Harthouse" of Techno-Guru SVEN VÄTH.
Such tracks as "Freedom of Expression" or "Discover your innerself" got a massive pesponse and three more 12inchs followed.
1993
In this year TOM was given an offer from Music Research (Talla 2XLC) and so he joined the team and managed the labels Suck Me Plasma & Influence Recordings as an A&R till he left the company after 6 months to work for Eye-Q Records and their label Harthouse to get new releases. At this time TOM WAX & NORMAN FELLER started their TOM & NORMAN project on Overdrive records and released their famous classic "Tales of Mystery",which got one of the clubhits in 1993. After that they made two more 12inchs ,"Bass 4 Love" and "Thundergod" and finally they released their album "The final exhibition" on Sony Music/Germany .Out of the success of the diferent projects there were a lot of remixes for other artists , such as ERASURE,COSMIC BABY,JAM & SPOON,DUNE,U96, THE SHAMEN,MARUSHA, STEVE POINTDEXTER,SPARKS,THE HYPNOTIST, YELLO,CULTURE BEAT,TALLA 2XLC, ESKIMOS & EGYPTS,RESISTANCE D., HARDFLOOR,TESOX,MARK´OH,MARK N-R-G,DUNE and more ...
1994
In 1994 TOM & THORSTEN brought a new and very personal project into life which they named "AWeX" (Adler-Wax-eXperiments) . In the beginning they made it for fun to have experimental field without any musical limits,but after their first 10inch called "It´s our future",which was the big anthem of 1995 and the Berlin LOVE PARADE,they had their biggest success up to date . The follow-up "Back on plastic" climbed up the German official Media Control Charts up to rank 32 and the third 10inch "Wicked plasticmen" and the longplayer "It´s our future - The album" followed . This AWeX stuff was released on Plastic City Records , a label of Alex Plastic and the Undercover Music Group and TOM was offered to found a label in cooperation with Undercover. PHUTURE WAX was born . The musical style is clearly defined : PHUTURE WAX STYLE !!! The label gave TOM the possibility to release a lot of stuff,which he created in cooperation with some of his friends,which are although intomusic .
1995
Next to all the remixes and releases with AweX,this year was completly focused on the work for the Phuture Wax imprint and the support for Tom´s musical friends,such as WATCHMAN (NORMAN FELLER) ,WAVE CAPTAIN (JAN FRIEDRICH) , JOHN CHEVALIER (TOBIAS MENGUSER) ,KINETIC A.T.O.M. (TIMO MAAS),COZMO GIANT (FRANK COCHOIS) and many more ...
Tom produced different projects together with some of his friends such as TOJA (TOM WAX/JAN FRIEDRICH) , WAX SCIENTISTS (TOM WAX/NORMAN FELLER) , DYNAMIC MANIAX (TOM WAX/FRANK COCHOIS) and many more ...
1996
Trughout the intensive cooperation in the studio with Jan Jacarta,the projects Tom Wax & Jan Jacarta,Electric Nature and Toja were found by Tom and Jan and a lot of releases and remixes were done under these names.Although Tom created a soloproject called Wax Trax and released two 12inches for Tetsuo Records. In the end of 1996 Tom and his mates moved to new studio facilities in the Darmstadt area,were they built two studios to work under better conditions and more effectiv.
1997
The year started with a lot of work in the studio to connect all the equipment and set up the complete studio-stuff,but in the End of April Tom went on to produce new tracks for his projects Tom Wax & Jan Jacarta,Electric Nature,Toja,Wax Trax and made some remixes for other artists.
1998
Talla and Tom Wax meet in the beginning of 1998 to release a Techno Club double DJ mix CD and a charthiting 12inch called NRG on Sony Music !! Together with his friend and songwriter Bill Brown,Tom continued his Wax Trax project und combined Bill´s deep voice and lyrics with hard electronic beats.
The result were the two releases "Speed of Light" and "Power of Electricity" on the Tetsuo Imprint.
1999
After another Double Mix-CD in the beginning of 1999 named "The Club Mix" together with the well known Ibiza DJ Gee Moore,Tom relaunched his own Mix CD series "TOM WAX MIX TRAX" together with the ZYX company to present his DJ skills and favourite tracks on a double CD.Vol.1 + Vol.2 of the series with a complete new artwork hit the stores in May and September. Together with Jan Jacarta he released a track called "Weekend of Love" as the anthem for the Love Parade event of the NO UFOS promoters in Berlin. Arpeggiators and AWeX,the two main-projects of Tom and Thorsten Adler, found their new home on two new labels.Arpeggiators got released on Overdose Records and AWeX on Phuture Wax Records,Tom´s own label. With succesfull Re-Releases of "Freedom of Expression" and "It´s our future", the two projects had a great comeback in the music-biz.
2000
The new millenium brought a new Arpeggiators 12inch called "Future Kick" on Overdose Records,which was picked by the major company EMI afterwards. EDM records was the home of the new cooperation from Tom Wax with the two Koblenz based producers and DJ`s JamX & Dominik DeLeon.The track "Loud & Soft" climbed the German Dance charts up to No.8. MDB on WAX was the projectname of Tom together with labelowner and well known DJ Mario De Bellis on Mario´s Desperadoz imprint and both DJ´s mixed their all-time techno & house favourites of the last 10 years for the alphabet city company on the double CD "Backview". In April Tom mixed the 3rd volume of his Tom Wax Mix Trax series and in June the longplayer of Tom Wax & Jan Jacarta called "The Wizardz of Sound" on Technoclub Records followed..
